To prepare for a sleep study, your Polysomnography technologist or Somnologists may recommend the following:
- Do not consume alcohol. Avoid food or drink that contain caffeine during the afternoon or evening before the test. It can cause a change in the sleep pattern or even worse the condition of your sleep disorder.
- Prevent taking a nap in the afternoon before the study.
You may take a shower or bathe before the test. However, do not apply colognes, lotions, or makeup. This can hinder the optimum performance of the sensors.
